The Fontmell Clinic Client Guide, Treatment and Appointment Policy

This client guide is produced for all our clients to read and be aware of the facilities within our establishment.
Our aim is to give you the highest possible standard of service and we try to deal with any complaints as quickly as possible.
All client treatments and costs will be fully discussed at the first consultation.
Facilities available include reception, waiting area, toilets and treatments area.
The Fontmell Clinic Clinic uses Candela GentleYAG and Vbeam Perfecta Lasers within the Laser treatment room.
We aim to provide service of consistently good quality for all clients and only provide service that meets your needs and wishes. We will aim to make your treatment as comfortable and convenient as possible.
The clinic complies with the requirements of the Advertising Standards Authority and ensures that adverts reflect the true nature of service offered.
When confirming appointments the clinic will make every effort to inform potential clients of the details of the facilities. 

Client Consultation, Dignity and Confidentiality

The clinic has a policy of client confidentiality. All information and records are kept safe and confidential.
If the client does not wish to discuss their confidential details within the reception area or they have a preference for consultation with a Male or Female member of staff, please ask the receptionist for this service when making the first appointment.
Records of all consultation and treatments are kept in clients notes.
The privacy and dignity of clients are respected at all times.
All clients have access to their health records in accordance with the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act.
This clinic ensures that information provided to clients and prospective clients and their families is accurate and that any claim made in respect of services are justified.

Consent Prior to Treatment

The clinic operates a consent policy which will be issued at the first consultation for the client to read and understand prior to proceeding with any treatment.
The consent policy also seeks the client approval, if they are not fit or do not have a capacity to give their own consent which must be given by a credible friend, guardian or relative.
The practice manager may take a view and not proceed with any treatment and may recommend another form of treatment or refer them to another clinic.

Additional Information

The clinic has a health and safety , risk management and incident report policy.
We take part in staff continuing professional development to keep our skills and knowledge up-to-date.
We follow the good practice and guidelines on infection control and health and safety of the staff, visitors and clients.
The clinic does not treat persons under the age of 18.
The clinic has appointed an RPA2000 Certified Laser Protection Advisor (LPA) who carries out annual visits and ensures that all the Lasers and procedures are operated safely and any risk or adverse incident to the client is minimized.
This clinic operates client satisfaction surveys. You are encouraged to take part. This assists us to improve our service. The results of such survey can be made available upon request to the Practice Manager.
Such information also includes: Clinical audits, treatment outcomes, changes in technology, number of adverse incidents and actions taken including contraindications and side effects.
The risks and contraindications of laser treatment are explained in detail prior to any treatment taking place.
It is the policy of this establishment to review the client guide on an annual basis and inform the Health Care Commission of any changes which may have an impact on the registration criteria.

In the event that a client feels that no benefit has been gained from treatment. Within reason, we will offer either money back or alternative treatment.
The laser light is absorbed by the pigment in the skin. This concentrates the heat and destroys the target area ie a hair or vein without harming the surrounding tissue or overlying skin.

Possible Side Effects

Hair Reduction - Once the treatment is complete, the area exposed to the laser is cleansed and you are free to return to your normal routine. Some clients may experience a slight reddening around hair follicles following treatment, which typically disappears within a few minutes. It is always recommended to avoid sun exposure or to use sunscreen following laser treatment. It may also seem that the hair continues to grow for one or two weeks after the procedure, but in fact these lifeless hairs will easily fall out.

Skin Rejuvenation - You may experience some redness and /or a slight darkening of pigmented areas. The redness usually dissipates within 24 hours, however, darkened pigmentation may persist and peel lightly for up to one week. Makeup can be applied to the treated area immediately, if necessary. 

Vein Removal - After laser treatment, there may be some noticeable blistering which is due to the exposure to laser energy. The clinic will offer you advice regarding the possible after effects of the treatment. 

Price List, Treatment Plan and Payment Method

Prices will vary depending on the extent of the area to be treated and the individual. A free consultation is required prior to all treatments.
If a skin patch test is required a charge of £50 will be levied.
All payments for treatments can be made via: Cash, Cheque (with bank guarantee card), Credit/Debit Card .

Complaints Procedure

This clinic operates a complaints procedure which is in compliance with the Health Care Commission standards. The clients are asked that in the event of any complaint, to speak with or write to the practice manager.
